To “meet people's immediate needs through social services such as tutoring and mentoring programs, youth volunteer corps, health screening, education and assistance, inner city missions, and disaster response.” Our purpose is to build a trusting relationship between Berean, the Church as a worldwide organization, and our community. To accomplish this we provide support to local entities compassionately serving the poor those who are hurting in other areas of their life.
Berean Adventist Community Service (ACS) operates under the Berean Seventh-day Adventist Church as an outreach ministry for the community and its members. The goal of ACS is to help meet the immediate needs of our community through social services such as supplemental groceries, mentoring, tutoring, referrals, health screenings, disaster response, and inner city ministries.
Each month, ACS provides supplemental food bags and other forms of emergency assistance to referred families, walk-ins, and ongoing clients.
As the cost of healthcare and other living expenses continue to rise, individuals including senior citizens and families with children often find themselves forgoing the purchase of adequate food and clothing in order to maintain their healthcare and household expenses. ACS provides supplemental food and other goods to help them get through their month. Food and supplies are acquired through local agency partnerships as well as monetary and personal donations. Our major partnership is with the Houston Food Bank. New and gently used clothing donations are collected and distributed by appointment or during major distribution days. With our expanded services, we are able to serve more individuals and families of our community, providing a more balanced box of goods.
ACS also offers a listening ear, referrals to other Houston area resources, and personal ministries to help our community members who are suffering from various life events. Here are just a few of the services we offer, some of which are periodic or as needed:
